Practical gift solutions

12 January 2007

We are pleased to announce that we now stock a range of cost effective, practical ideas to assist independent living.

Some people are always difficult to buy presents for - maybe they seem to have everything they want, you don't know their taste or they don't give out any hints!

This applies to everyone but when someone has a disability the issue could be harder.

Obviously the traditional gifts of socks, smellies, books and ornaments can be 'enjoyed' by all, but there may be something which a person with a disability would really appreciate to assist them in everyday tasks around the home.

Maybe something to help with putting those socks on, a long-handled sponge to apply that new shower gel, a little gadget to help hold a book open or a non-slip mat to keep the ornament (or dinner plate) in place?

There are all sorts of items available which help to make life easier and which would show thoughtfulness if purchased as a gift.

The Disability Resource Centre has a range of  items on show - some of which we are able to sell directly to the public, others are available via mail order or other suppliers.

Why not come along on a Wednesday (our regular weekly drop-in day) between 10am and 3pm, to have a look?

If you would prefer to come on a different weekday, it might be best to phone beforehand to ensure someone is available to help you, just call (01582) 470900.

We look forward to seeing you. If you require any further information, please e-mail us by clicking here
