The Bedfordshire Direct Payments Support Service

The Disability Resource Centre provides an independent service through the Direct Payments Support Scheme, which operates throughout Bedfordshire. We can provide you with a range of support services. These include :

Help to plan how you will manage the direct payment
Information on implications of being an employer - this covers all aspects of becoming an employer
Help to draw up job descriptions
Support to interview prospective employees
Provide support with paperwork - financial returns
Model Contracts of Employment - an employment contract has been drawn up by a solicitor and kept updated according to changes in legislation
Insurance
Help to identify personal assistant training needs. A comprehensive list of training providers if available for personal assistant training
Payroll service - payroll will ensure that the correct tax and national insurance is deducted
Access to an independent advocate if required - an independent advocate for adults with disabilities is available at the Disability Resource Centre
Access to peer support group - an opportunity to talk with people who are managing their own care using a direct payment
