Wheelchair Hire

Do you have a temporary need for a wheelchair?

Maybe you have broken your leg, perhaps an elderly relative is coming to stay, or you could be waiting for a wheelchair to be provided by the NHS.

The Disability Resource Centre hires out manual wheelchairs for a maximum period of eight weeks. We have both self-propelling chairs (with large rear wheels) and attendant-controlled chairs (four small wheels, helper to push).

We have a set of leg extensions if required, subject to availability.

We charge £10 per week, or part thereof, and ask for a deposit of £50 which is returned to you when the chair is returned to us. There is a small discount if hiring for longer periods.

Wheelchairs can be hired from other sources such as the British Red Cross or local mobility shops - we can supply details if required.

If you require a wheelchair for a long-term need, you may be eligible for provision from the NHS. Contact your local Wheelchair Services Department for more information. (We can supply details of your local office).
